The Market
At present, presentation control devices range in price from 35$ to 200$,
depending on brand and functionality. Some of them offer some sort of cursor
control; almost all offer integrated laser-pointers and SlideForward/SlideBack buttons.

The Xpoint
version (comprising a distance-sensor and an orientation-sensor) is anticipated
to have the largest commercial potential, and is estimated to have a
BillOfMaterials somewhere between 20$ and 50$ and a retail price between 100$
and 250$. That is, Xpoint will be positioned on the high end of the
present market-spectrum, and will be the only device that allows
direct-pointing 'laserpointer-like' cursor control, without confining the user
to any specific location in the room.
Market-size is expected to be as large as 100.000 units
annually. Indeed, annual sales for Gyration alone (manufacturer of GyroMouse)
total up to 3,6 million US$ (see excerpt from www.hoovers.com).
